Another Street Photography Blog??

Another Blog about Street Photography??   There are probably more people out there writing them, then reading them… Right?? Right!!  Well, this Blog is not just about Street Photography. It is all about demystifying the photographic process, to document the moments of clarity when everything comes together and you get that ‘ah ha’ moment..

A Triangle of Light Paris 2015

The first thing that you should know about me is that I’m a visual person, normally writing is a cruel and unusual form of punishment.. however, get me talking about photo stuff and well you can’t shut me up, just ask my friends. We can chat about photos indefinitely and it’s not all about f stops and cameras, but about art, classic proportions and what inspires us to create. It is my one obsession.. I eat, sleep and breathe it. So here I am, happy to share my insights, to make your journey a little easier and to add to the collective creativity…

And so it begins….
Outside the Louvre. Paris 2015

My first piece of advise is…Follow your heart not your head. ” Imagination is more important than knowledge” Albert Einstein said this and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t talking about photography.. But still, it translates!  Sometimes we get stuck in the jargon and technology. What f-stop? what ISO? Really?? If an image doesn’t effect you emotionally and make you feel something, then all is lost. It can be the sharpest, most technically perfect image in existence. It still doesn’t make it a great photo. You the photographer, need to connect emotionally first and foremost, then this emotion or something like it is conveyed to the viewer. You just have to look at the work of Henri Cartier Bresson to see his images were not tack sharp, but they are filled with humanity.

It don’t mean a thing (if it ain’t got that swing),  and yes you can expect more of these obscure quotes. If you work on your Artistry and shoot with passion the rest will follow. Everything else can be learnt. Any thoughts?? Feel free to leave them below.. T
